All day he pushes this cart around the streets of Dili collecting bottles and cans and for recycling in Indonesia. He gets paid between twenty and sixty cents per kilo.”

"My neighbour has no wife or children. He lives with his brother’s family. He grows this green vegetable for the family to eat and sells what's left over in front of the house.”

"This boy is selling meatballs for five cents each. He told me that he is from the district of Oecussi. His parents are very poor can’t afford to send him to school. He came to Dili to earn money to send back to his family. I feel sorry for him; he is sixteen years old, the same age as me.”
