Sunset by Amirah Elkassab
“Hi my name is Amirah I am 16 years old and in year 10 and this is a photo of the sky during sunset revealing the stage the moon
is at, named the waning crescent moon. The contrast within the mixing colours of blue, purple and pink is astonishing, though
there is the science behind it. As the sun goes down over the horizon, sunlight passes through a thicker layer of the atmosphere
compared to the daytime. This causes the blue light that is seen during the daytime to be scattered away from our eyes, allowing
more colours such as pinks and orange light to pass through. Linking to my interest in astronomy I find space interesting as it’s
like another world ready to be explored. Space is boundless as it is unlimited and immense; it has no ending, which we can’t
even conceive of.”
